We can model trends (cultural adoption) the same way we model technological adoption. There are innovators who create the trend and define the paradigm. There are early adopters who pioneer its usage and evangelize to their peers. In the early and late phases of mass awareness, the trend becomes commonly known though as will be apparent when you read on—no trend is universally adopted. And finally, there are the laggards who only engage once full saturation has been reached. At this point the trend is not necessarily about to die. Most likely, it’s about to become a zombie.
