Some things I have been noticing:
Chatter about downloading and storing media on air-gapped hard drives
Turning off FaceID on phones
Travel burner phones
Group chats shifting to Signal
Deleting or wiping social media accounts
Nostr: notes and other stuff transmitted by relay
Palantir hitting $1 billion in revenue
ChatGPT being used as evidence in criminal proceedings
Borders are closing online and off.
What all of these things amount to is a "chilling effect" on the internet, a retreat. Something has shifted.
The old code of the internet was freedom.
